Understanding that Close Protection Operators should be familiar with threat management concepts and strategies to elevate their careers and more efficiently protect their clients. The role of a protector goes beyond mere physical presence. This presentation summarizes Monica Duperon Rodriguez's exploration of the critical concept of hostage negotiations threat profiling and the distinctions between "Hunters" and "Howlers" within the threat management field. By delving into these classifications, the presentation highlights the importance of understanding different ways to better understand threat levels and problematic subjects. This assists CPOs to better understand an individual's propensity for violence or disruptive behavior. Monica Duperon Rodriguez is a seasoned security professional with a diverse background in having worked on the Human Trafficking Task Force, Gang Task Force, Undercover Narcotics Detective, DEA Task Force, Field Training Officer, and SWAT Hostage Negotiator. She is an expert in the development and execution of security plans and operations designed to minimize liability exposure; while protecting valuable human capital, equipment, resources, and facilities in both civil and government agencies; and national and international forums. She is fully bilingual, in English, and Spanish, and intermediate in French and Italian. Monica’s last role was Sr. Manager of Executive Protection and Global Event Security at LinkedIn Corp. Monica regularly mentors new and seasoned professionals and conducts training seminars for women in protection globally. She further extends her voice and influence through published works in The Circuit Magazine (The magazine of the North American and British Bodyguard Association). Monica is often quoted and written for industry-specific published books on executive protection, women in executive protection, and the psychology of dealing with others while working in executive protection. Monica is the co-author of “Extraordinary Latinas Vol IV” and author of Vast Potential: A Bodyguard’s Journey to Empowerment both to be released in the spring of 2025.

- Upon completing the course, attendees will be have an understanding in identifying the types of personalities for a proper threat assessment, encompassing physical and human-related risks.
- By the end of the training, participants will have a basic understanding of psychological profiling techniques to analyze subject motivations, triggers, and responses during negotiations. Participants will actively apply psychological profiling methods in simulated negotiation scenarios, tailoring their strategy development.
