John Dillard is the General Manager of Sign In Solutions and President of Sign In Compliance (formerly ThreatSwitch), a software company focused on helping highly regulated companies comply with rapidly changing security regulations while minimizing costs and reducing risk. ThreatSwitch was acquired in 2022 by Sign In Solutions, a global provider of cloud-based visitor management and risk mitigation software backed by leading growth equity firm PSG.
A recognized author and speaker on security, insider threat, and counterintelligence. John’s most recent work focuses on how technology and collaboration can improve security for both public and private sector organizations.
John started his career at the CIA, where he was an Analyst and Graduate fellow focused on nuclear proliferation and nuclear security. His 20+ year career in security and intelligence includes time as an intelligence officer in the US Navy Reserve – where he was a unit security manager – and a stint as an FSO for his cleared company. He is also a Founder of Big Sky, a consulting and training firm that specializes in security, insider threat, and counterintelligence.
John is the author of Microslices, a book focused on how data science, artificial intelligence, and automation are driving rapid change in white collar work. He sits on the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) Security Policy Reform Council and Insider Threat Subcommittee, and is the recipient of several honors and awards, including Charlotte’s Forty under 40, Charlotte Fast 50, The University of South Carolina’s Distinguished Young Alumnus Award, and The US Army Commander’s Award for Public Service for his work on personnel security clearance reform.
John is passionate about three things outside of work: Nerve 2019, for which he serves as chairman; F3, which plants, grows and serves small workout groups for the invigoration of male community leadership; and his family of 4 in Charlotte, NC.
