Subversion introduced from outside is a growing threat in the modern workplace. The danger is often compounded by shifts in the workforce (office, hybrid, remote work, labor pool generational shifts, and a reluctance to mitigate the effects of insider threats). Reports indicate the cost per Insider Threat incident is over $15 million.
Insider threat protection has constantly evolved ever since the Greeks in the 13th century utilized the Trojan horse to gain entry to the walled city of Troy ending the war. Today, Insider Threat has evolved to include malicious insiders, negligent insiders, and recently terminated (disgruntled) employees as perpetrators of attacks.
Data theft, theft of trade secrets, business interruption, monetary loss, regulatory fines, loss of trust, and damage to the reputation of the organization highlight the negative impacts of an insider threat attack. Companies need to ensure they are addressing Insider Threats via a robust program that detects, deters, and mitigates Insider Threats.

Charles Margiotta - Vice President, Corporate Security, QTS
Charles Margiotta, Vice President, Corporate Security joined QTS on February 22, 2021. Mr. Margiotta has a 26 year law enforcement career, serving as a Trooper in the New York State Police and a Special Agent with the FBI. During his distinguished 24 year career with the FBI, Mr. Margiotta conducted investigations and program managed cases in the Criminal, Counterintelligence, Counterterrorism, and National Security fields. He recently served in the FBI’s Security Division overseeing Security Operations, Intelligence, and Threat Analysis. Mr. Margiotta retired from the FBI while serving on a Joint Duty Assignment to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC), as the Director of the National Insider Threat Task Force (NITTF).
Mr. Margiotta grew up in New York and attended the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany, gaining a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

John Lineweaver is the proud father to four beautiful children and husband to his wonderful wife Delphine Lineweaver for over 26 years.
John began his career in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the prestigious Marine Security Guard Battalion protecting Embassies in West Africa and Paris, France. Additionally, John served as a Military Policeman (auxiliary) at the Marine Air Wing in Tustin, CA. After his time in the Marines, John transitioned to Corporate Security where he honed his skills in Physical Security through the management of Physical Security programs for class A commercial high rises and the Intercontinental Miami Hotel.
As the Physical Security Manager for NextEra Energy, John developed the Utilities Security Plan for offices, service centers, power plants and transmission / distribution facilities. These plans were meticulously designed to meet the Federal Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) program requirements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
Currently, John is leading a diverse team of advanced professionals in the protection of Data Centers in the Southern part of the United Sates for a large technology company.
