With the growing level of global conflict, the threat of citizens becoming detained by a foreign government is increasing. Because of this, organizational Travel Risk Management Programs must address this risk by educating employees how to avoid being detained by a foreign government and how to respond effectively if detention occurs.

Randy Spivey is the CEO and Founder of the Center for Personal Protection and Safety (CPPS).
He is recognized as a leading expert in the field of preventing and responding to violence in the workplace, schools, and Houses of Worship. CPPS programs have been utilized by over 50 percent of Fortune 100 corporations, over 1600 colleges and universities and many of the largest non-profit/charitable organizations across the globe.
Since forming CPPS, Randy and his organization have trained over 10 million individuals in Best Practices related to their personal safety and resilience including: Situational Awareness, Workplace Violence Prevention, Active Shooter Response, Travel Safety and Security, and Kidnap Survival.
Prior to forming CPPS, Randy served as a Department of Defense executive. In that capacity, he managed and provided oversight to all Hostage Survival training programs in the Department of Defense and provided direct instruction to elite U.S. military units including Delta Force and Seal Team Six.
Randy served on the Department of Homeland Security Faith-Based Security Advisory Council from 2020 - 2022. In this capacity, Randy served as an Advisor to the Executive Office of the President and Department of Homeland Security in areas related to improving the safety and security of Houses of Worship across the U.S.
Randy has worked directly with many national-level media organizations to include: The Wall Street Journal, ABC World News Tonight, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, the Associated Press, the History Channel, USA Today and the New York Times.
Randy has a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Relations from the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Resource Development from South Dakota State University.

Dave Benson is an accomplished security professional with over 40 years of Public and Private Sector expertise in the areas of Security Management, Protective Operations, Travel Security, Contingency Planning and Vulnerability/Risk Assessment & Mitigation.
Dave had an acclaimed career with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) as a Senior Special Agent. In his last position with the Department of State, Dave served as Director of the Diplomatic Security Training Center in Washington DC where he was responsible for all Security, Engineering, and Law Enforcement training within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. In addition, Dave was responsible for the coordination and delivery of Travel Security Training for the Foreign Affairs Community.
Prior to his government service, Dave served in various management positions for Walt Disney World Security, in Orlando, Florida.
Dave’s other career highlights include: Protective Security for numerous Secretaries of State & Foreign Dignitaries: overseas assignments in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Finland, and Bangladesh; and oversight of the DS planning and coordination for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
In addition to developing and delivering various training solutions for CPPS--such as Workplace Violence Prevention, Self Defense, Executive Protection, Threat Assessment and Management Team training--Dave spends an increasing amount of his time managing the CPPS Threat Management Advisory Team (TMAT), Workplace Violence Prevention Program Review and other High-Level Consulting Programs.
Dave is a member in good standing with The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), a Certified Threat Manager (CTM), and serves as the President of the Florida ATAP Board of Directors.
