Gender-Based Violence cuts across geographical, cultural, social, and economic factors and is a threat to human security in Nigeria and globally.Human security is not the absence of conflict but “The right of people to live in freedom and dignity, free from poverty and despair…with an equal opportunity to enjoy all their rights and fully develop their human potential”(UN General Assembly, 2012).

Gender-Based violence refers to “harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It is rooted in gender inequality, the abuse of power and harmful norms. Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious violation of human rights and a life-threatening health and protection issue” (UNHRC).

Bridget Taremotimi is a Human Resources professional and a certified Gender Based Instructor with 12 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Sexual and Gender Based Violence across diverse audiences. Over this period, she has worked in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projects that increased the power of target populations and dynamically evolved their economic and social behavior. She has worked with a variety of audiences - adolescents, youths, women, health professionals, Church and community leaders, key populations, in effecting economic and social behavior change in children and adolescents, Livelihood, Education, and Development issues.

Bridget has applied her expertise in Human Resources combined with a good understanding of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Education programs to deliver various projects she managed. She has coached and supported individuals/organization to improve their effectiveness in delivering programs that promote sustainability. She has also worked with survivors of Gender-Based Violence in accessing support services including psychological, medical, and legal services.

She has a personal passion for improving the lives of people especially girls and women in communities and believes in the power of local individuals to enact positive change if provided with the tools and support they need to make the change they require to live a healthy and vibrant life andhas been giving back to the society by way of capacity building working with religious organizations and NGOs mostly in Girl child empowerment

Bridget holds a master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from the University of Lagos and has attended several capacity-building programs on Leadership, Gender, and Program management.
