Understand how to make social media risk an integrated part of your security program.
Tuesday, 19 July 2022
12:30 – 1:30 PM Eastern
Online extremists, agents of nation-states, fraudsters, trolls, and activists are targeting companies with misinformation, disinformation, and reputational attacks. In some cases these bad actors are seeking to destroy corporate brands and credibility as part of a larger strategy to undermine confidence in Western economies. Either as part of this larger operation or as a byproduct of it, targeted violence against businesses and other institutions is on the rise. This trend reflects such phenomena as severe political divisiveness in the West, the war in Ukraine, supply chain shortages and breakdowns, the Covid hangover, and a global economy perched on the brink of recession.
CSOs and security executives find themselves in a familiar place: 20 or so years ago, cyber was an emerging threat, until it eclipsed physical security as a boardroom priority. We are at the dawn of the era of the weaponization of social media, which we as a profession run the risk underestimating. Western companies face an unprecedented risk that is not well understood or addressed.
